Tyler Bate (born March 7, 1997 in Netherton , West Midlands , Dudley , England ) is a British wrestler currently under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and part of the NXT brand. He was named the first WWE United Kingdom Champion at the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament . Together with René Duprée , he is one of two wrestlers who received a WWE title as a teenager .

Life

Growing up in Dudley , he began wrestling as a teenager. He made his wrestling debut on September 15, 2012 at a Great Bear Promotions (GBP) event . There he was defeated in a championship tournament in the first round to wrestler Chris Brookes. He then wrestled for several independent promotions. He made recurring appearances for Preston City Wrestling (PCW) from 2014 to 2015.

He is dating the wrestler Liv Morgan.

In 2015 he joined his coach Trent Seven for the US promotion Chikara Pro Wrestling , which was on tour through Great Britain at the time. There the two The Hunter Brothers were allowed to defeat in a dark match on April 3 and lose to The Devastation Corporation (Max Smashmaster and Blaster McMassive) in another dark match on April 6. Then there was a trio match with Clint Margera against Pete Dunne, Damian Dunne and Jimmy Havoc , which they also had to lose. After the UK tour, the two were invited to the United States, where they were allowed to compete with Dan Moloney as the Team Fight Club in a King of Trios tournament and made it to the semi-finals there. In 2016, the two competed several times for the US independent promotion and won a tournament there called Campeonatos de Parejas.

In 2016, Bate and Trent Seven also joined the British Progress Wrestling league , where they celebrated success as a tag team at Mustache Mountain . The trademark mustaches of the two became. The two won the tag team title there on December 16, which they hold to this day. The team has since been renamed British Strong Style.

On December 15, 2016, Tyler Bate was announced as one of 16 participants in the tournament for the WWE United Kingdom Championship . He was finally able to win the first round on January 14, 2017 and defeated the wrestler Pete Dunne after reaching the final on January 15 . He was then presented with the newly introduced title by Triple H , William Regal , Finn Bálor and Fit Finlay . When Tyler Bate won the title, he was just 19 years old, which together with René Duprée made him the second youngest WWE star to ever hold a title. On February 1, 2017, he made his first appearance on WWE NXT, where he defended his title against Oney Lorcan .

He lost his United Kingdom Championship to Pete Dunne at the NXT TakeOver: Chicago on May 20, 2017. On June 19, 2018 he won the NXT Tag Team Championship of The Undisputed Era as part of the United Kingdom Championship Tournaments 2018, together with Trent Seven . This reign only lasted 2 days and lost the title back to The Undisputed Era. On August 31, 2019, he played a match for the WWE United Kingdom Champion against Walter on NXT: UK TakeOver: Cardiff , but he could not win this.
