Sergej Using (born May 16, 1977 ) is a former German basketball player . He played 49 Bundesliga games for the Central German BC .

career

Using comes from Berlin . He played at the University of Alaska Anchorage in the United States from 1995 to 2000 . He had a total of 143 blocked litters for Alaska Anchorage and at the time of the end of his college career was in second place in the university's all-time best list behind his compatriot Hansi Gnad , who had played there in the 1980s. In terms of blocks per game, Using even ranked first in the leaderboard with a value of 1.79, ahead of Gnad. In the 1995/96 and 1999/00 seasons, Using was recognized as the University of Alaska Anchorage basketball player who had the best development in the course of the game year.

After Usings return to his home country, he signed with the second division club BSG Bremerhaven, where he played in the 2000/01 season. He drew the attention of teams from the Bundesliga basketball league and in 2001 switched to Central German BC . For the MBC he completed 49 games in Germany's top division by the end of the 2002/03 season and also took part in the Northern European Basketball League with the Weißenfelsers .

In 2003 Using moved to the Norwegian first division club 3B / Bærums Verk , with whom he was national champion in the 2003/04 season. He played for the team until the end of the 2004/05 season.
