The NXT Women's Championship , along with the NXT UK Women's Championship, is one of the women's wrestling titles that are part of the WWE Advanced League . Introduced on April 5, 2013, the title is only awarded to the womens division of the NXT rooster. As is common in wrestling, the award is based on a previously determined storyline.
history
The NXT Women's Championship was announced on April 5, 2013 at WrestleMania Axxess . On June 20, 2013 Paige was allowed to win the final of a tournament for the title against Emma. Before that she was allowed to defeat Tamina Snuka and Alicia Fox . This made her the first ever NXT Women's Champion .
In the September 16, 2015 issue of NXT , General Manager William Regal announced that Bayley would defend her title against Sasha Banks in the first-ever Iron Woman match in WWE history in the TakeOver: Respect Main Event on October 7 . At the event, Bayley defeated Banks to claim the championship.
On WrestleMania weekend 2017, all NXT title belts received a new design. The new title belts were unveiled at the NXT TakeOver: Orlando event and presented to the winners of the respective matches. The championship includes removable side panels, with the WWE logo as the standard panels, which are customized to the current title holder.
