Pamela Rose Martinez (born June 15, 1989 in Newark , California , USA ), better known by her ring name Bayley , is an American wrestler and is currently under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ) . She has received the WWE Raw Women's Championship once , the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship twice , was previously NXT Women's Champion and so far twice WWE Women's Tag Team Champion . This makes her the first female WWE Triple Crown and Grand Slam Champion .

Wrestling career

Independent Leagues (2008-2012)

At the age of 18 Martinez began her professional wrestling training with Jason Styles and Big Time Wrestling in Northern California in 2008 . In September of that year she played her first wrestling match as Davina Rose. From 2008 to 2012, most of her matches took place at Big Time Wrestling , which she said was her "home" league. Between 2011 and 2012 she also appeared on other independent promotions, including Championship Wrestling from Hollywood , Shine Wrestling and Shimmer . Martinez lost her first matches at Shimmer until she and Mia Yim defeated her opponents Melanie Cruise and Mena Libra in Volume 48 in 2012 . In Volume 51 , she finally won her first single match against Cherry Bomb.

World Wrestling Entertainment (since 2012)

Beginnings and NXT Women's Champion (2012-2016)

In December 2012, Martinez signed a contract with WWE . On March 20, 2013, she made her NXT television debut under the new ring name Bayley . However , she lost the match against Paige . Her first win on an NXT TV show was on September 4, 2013, when she and Charlotte won a tag team match against Aksana and Alicia Fox . On NXT TakeOver : Brooklyn on August 22, 2015, Bayley beat Sasha Banks to receive the NXT Women's Championship . She was able to defend this at NXT TakeOver: Respect on October 7, 2015 in a rematch against Banks. This match was the first 30-minute Iron Man match of female wrestlers in the WWE and at the same time the first female main event of a major WWE event. On April 1, 2016 on NXT Takeover: Dallas Bayley lost the title to Asuka . A rematch took place on August 20, 2016 at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II , but Bayley also lost this match, which was her last match at NXT.

Raw Women's Champion (2016-2017)

On July 24, 2016, Bayley debuted as the surprise partner of Sasha Banks on WWE Battleground . Together they defeated Charlotte Flair and Dana Brooke in a tag team match . She made her official debut on the Raw roster on August 22, 2016 with a victory over Dana Brooke, which was followed by a feud. After several unsuccessful attempts at the title, Bayley was finally able to defeat Charlotte Flair in the February 13th 2017 Raw edition and win the Raw Women's Championship . After several title defenses, she lost the title at Payback on April 30, 2017 to Alexa Bliss .

Boss 'N' Hug Connection and Women's Tag Team Champion (2017-2019)

In late 2017, Bayley and Sasha Banks began a feud with absolution , but mostly lost. In the women's first Royal Rumble match on January 28, 2018, Bayley entered the ring as number 29, but was quickly eliminated by her best friend Sasha Banks. At the subsequent pay-per-view Elimination Chamber , she took part in the women's first Elimination Chamber match , but was eliminated by Alexa Bliss after an attack by Banks. Over the next few weeks, Bayley and Banks' friendship imploded after weeks of tension. So there was a backstage brawl between the two of them in the March 26, 2018 edition of Raw , which had to be broken up by officials. Shortly thereafter, in the kickoff show of WrestleMania 34 , Bayley threw in the Wrestlemania Women's Battle Royal Banks of the ring and eliminated them as out of the match. On the first day of the Superstar Shake-Up on April 16, 2018, Bayley faced Banks in a match that ended in a no-contest after The Riott Squad intervened. On June 18, Bayley and Banks lost a tag team match against Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan of the Riott Squad . After the match, Bayley and Banks clashed backstage , which further strained their former friendship. Later that evening, Bayley followed Sasha Banks into the parking lot in front of the hall to speak to her, but Banks declined and drove away in her car. The following week, Bayley and Banks lost another match against The Riott Squad . Following the match, Bayley Banks attacked from behind, causing Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to send both of them to a consultation session within the storyline the following week to resolve their obvious problems. On the July 16, 2018 edition of Raw , Banks admitted that despite their differences, Bayley still meant a lot to her. The two then reconciled and formed the tag team The Boss 'N' Hug Connection .

On February 17, 2019, at Elimination Chamber , Banks and Bayley won the Women's Elimination Chamber Tag Team Match against five other teams, making them the first female champions of the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship , which was introduced earlier this year . They lost these titles at Wrestlemania 35 on April 7, 2019 to The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce ). After losing the title, the tag team was dissolved.

SmackDown Women's Champion , Women's Tag Team Champion and Heel-Turn (since 2019)

As part of the 2019 Superstar Shake-Up , Bayley switched from Raw to SmackDown on April 16, 2019 . On May 19, 2019 Bayley won at Money in the Bank , the ladder match at the Money in the Bank contract . Ember Moon , Mandy Rose , Natalya , Naomi , Carmella , Nikki Cross and Dana Brooke were also involved in this match . On the same evening, she successfully redeemed her Money in the Bank Contract against Charlotte Flair , who had recently defeated Becky Lynch and thus became SmackDown Women's Champion several times . Bayley thus secured her first SmackDown Women's Championship and at the same time became WWE's first female Grand Slam Champion , as she had won all four existing women's titles within the league at least once.

On September 2, 2019, Bayley completed the first heel turn of her career by attacking Becky Lynch with Sasha Banks. Shortly afterwards, she changed her general look and destroyed the colorful tubemen that had always accompanied her entrance on stage . On October 6, 2019, she lost the SmackDown Women's Championship at Hell in a Cell to Charlotte Flair. A few days later, on October 11, 2019, she won the SmackDown Women's Championship back on Friday Night SmackDown from Charlotte Flair. On June 5, 2020, she and Sasha Banks also won the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship by defeating the team made up of Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross . This made her the first female wrestler in the WWE to be allowed to carry a main and a tag team championship at the same time . On August 30, 2020, they lost the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship after a reign of 86 days to Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax .
