history

The Performance Center is the official professional wrestling school of the WWE as well as a training, sports science, and sports medicine facility. It is located in Orlando , Florida near Full Sail University, home base of NXT . It opened on July 11, 2013 and it is not open to the public. The facility covers an area of 2,400 square meters and includes seven training rings (including a special, padded ring for high-flying moves), processing and production facilities and a voice-over room that performers and on-air announcers use to practice can.

The Performance Center trains around 65 to 70 wrestlers at the same time. Apprentices have a variety of experience levels, from beginners with no wrestling background to seasoned wrestlers from the independent leagues. Wrestlers train to improve their in-ring performance, strength and stamina, as well as to work on their character and personality. Upcoming referees, ring announcers, commentators and backstage interviewers also train in the performance center. Apprentices train full-time while also performing weekly at NXT Live Events and on the NXT wrestling show . In addition, established WWE Superstars often use the facility for training and injury rehabilitation.

A second, England- based Performance Center opened on January 11, 2019 in Enfield , London .

On the occasion of the global COVID-19 pandemic , all weekly programs such as RAW , Smackdown and NXT were held in the Performance Center to the exclusion of viewers .

On March 16, 2020, WWE decided to hold its biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania 36 , in the Performance Center without an audience.

Controversy

In 2013, some WWE dismissed wrestlers accused the WWE of multiple misconduct. Trent Barreta and Briley Pierce accused the strength trainer of sexual harassment of the female wrestlers, while Chase Donovan and Chad Baxtern accused Bill DeMott of homophobic abuse . They also accused him of smashing folding rules on the wrestlers' backs and of having a gun with him during training. In response, WWE issued a statement in July that “no sexual harassment complaints have been filed against any employee at WWE's Orlando training facility . Instead, unfounded allegations had been made by disgruntled former employees recently fired by the WWE. Regardless, the WWE takes these issues seriously and has dealt with this issue, with the result that there has been no wrongdoing. "
