The United Kingdom Championship Special was a wrestling event hosted by industry leader World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and recorded exclusively for the WWE Network . The recording took place in front of a live audience on May 7, 2017 at Epic Studios in Norwich , Norfolk , England and was first broadcast on May 19, 2017.

After the successful WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament in January 2017, WWE official and ex-wrestler Triple H announced that it would continue to support talent in the UK. There was even talk of a weekly show. But first of all, title fights for the WWE United Kingdom Championship were held primarily at WWE NXT and at Progress Wrestling events . After the recordings for a single event had already taken place on May 7, 2017, WWE announced a continuation of the tournament on its website. To make the special even more interesting, Jim Ross could be won, who commented on the event together with Nigel McGuinness . It was the first moderation for the WWE since his guest commentary on Wrestlemania 2017 and the first complete show since his retirement.
Wolfgang and Joseph Conners opened the event with a singles match. This was followed by a tag team match from 205 Live with performers The Brian Kendrick and TJP against Rich Swann and Dan Moloney. Then the WWE United Kingdom Championship took center stage. By beating Trent Seven , Pete Dunne secured a fight against Tyler Bate at the next major WWE NXT event, NXT TakeOver: Chicago . In between there were three dark matches that entertained the audience on site, but did not become part of the recording. This was followed by a match for the WWE United Kingdom Championship, which Tyler Bate could win.
