205 (full title: WWE 205 Live) is a television format from World Wrestling Entertainment that has aired on the WWE Network immediately after SmackDown Live since November 29, 2016 . This show shows exclusive background material and builds on feuds of the cruiserweight wrestlers of the RAW roster, which are continued at RAW . The number 205 represents the cruiserweights weight limit of 205 pounds.

On May 25, 2016, WWE announced in a press release that the roster split or brand extension, which was introduced in 2002 and discontinued in late 2011, will be returning. The cruiserweight division was reintroduced as a result of the roster split. The first step was taken when the WWE announced the Cruiserweight Classic, the first cruiserweight tournament in WWE history, on February 18, 2016. The tournament named 32 cruiserweight wrestlers from all over the world. With TJ Perkins , the later tournament winner, not only the winner of the Cruiserweight Classic , but also the first title holder of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship was determined on September 14, 2016 . The Cruiserweight initially only appeared on RAW until the new show WWE 205 Live was announced on November 2, 2016 . The show was introduced so the cruiserweight division would have a show where they could better build their feuds. The premiere of WWE 205 Live aired on November 29, 2016 on the WWE Network. Since then, the show has aired every Friday after SmackDown Live on the WWE Network.
