Steven Haworth (born January 23, 1976 in London ) is a retired British wrestler who is currently under the name Nigel McGuinness as a commentator under contract with WWE .

Career

Ring of Honor / World Wrestling Entertainment

Steve Haworth made his Ring of Honor debut on August 9, 2003 when he played against Chet Jablonski. He competed continuously for this doctorate until 2004. Initially not particularly encouraged, Haworth was later allowed to compete against Colt Cabana and defeat him as part of the storyline. He was the No. 1 contender to the ROH Pure Title , the at that time Samoa Joe stopped.

On August 27, 2005 Haworth was the first time the ROH Pure Title win by Samoa Joe defeated . He had to give up this title on August 12, 2006 as part of a title union match when he had to lose to the then ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson . A little later, however, Haworth moved to the market leader in World Wrestling Entertainment .

On September 3, 2005, Haworth competed for Ohio Valley Wrestling . There he was not promoted enough and was only allowed to play insignificant matches. Haworth signed another contract with ROH after the end of his funding contract.

Ring of Honor / Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

After his re-engagement, ROH began to slowly build Haworth into a title challenger. And already on October 6, 2007, he was allowed in ROH PPV "Undeniable" the ROH World Title win, could defeat than the previous Haworth Champion Takeshi Morishima. Despite all the successes at ROH, Haworth let his contract expire again.

In mid-October 2009, Haworth signed a contract with TNA. At Impact on October 22, 2009, Haworth first appeared in front of TNA cameras as Desmond Wolfe and attacked former TNA champion Kurt Angle as part of the storyline . After several feuds, he had to pause from September 2010 due to a secret illness. Haworth made his comeback with the recording of TNA Xplosion on May 16, 2011 as the new commissioner for this show. On June 17, 2011, it was announced that TNA Wrestling had split from Haworth.

On August 13, 2011, Haworth returned to the Ring of Honor under the name Nigel McGuinness . There he comments next to the former WWE commentator Kevin Kelly on the show, which has been back on American TV since September 2011. In November 2011 he announced that he would end his career. A farewell tour followed on November 11, 2011 . He appeared in the independent scene, including on November 26th in Oberhausen , and completed his last match on December 17th, 2011.
