Tridroid Records is an American music label based in Brooklyn , New York City . It specializes primarily in re-releases of heavy metal albums of all types on compact cassettes .

history

The music label was founded in 2012 by Andrew Rehberger, who chose the name Tridroid Records with the simple reason "it sounded cool" . He described the self-interest in releasing some of his favorite albums on cassette as an essential drive for the founding, so that he could hear them in his car (which at the time had a car radio with a cassette drive ). In 2016 Rehberger sold the label to Christine Kelly.

The first band, whose album Rehberger released, he discovered through Bandcamp .

background

The release policy is based on three approaches: bands with a contract directly with the label, bands with pure distribution agreements and license releases. The focus is on the format of the compact cassette, individual albums also appear on CD or vinyl depending on the occasion .
