Muhammad Ali Jinnah, last will, excerpt

The Islamia College Peshawar (Urdu اسلامیہ کالج پشاور) ( ICP ) in Peshawar ( Peshawar ), the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province , is one of the oldest universities in Pakistan. The college was founded in 1913 on the personal initiative of Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan (1863-1937) and George Roos-Keppel (1866-1921). The establishment of the educational institution was made possible by the Aligarh movement . The university offers students higher education in the arts, humanities, and science. In 1950, Peshawar University was established as a branch of the college. Later, the status of the founding educational institution for Islamia College was established. In 2008, the Pakistani government upgraded college to university. The word "college" has been retained in the title as a historical name.

In 1901, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (Northwest Frontier Province) was established in the area allocated by Punjab. At that time there was only Edwardes College in the province . Because of this, young people left the province for higher education. In order to create a local elite, the provincial aristocracy and the British administration decided to establish another higher education institution. This became Islamiya College. Graduates from the school played and continue to play an important role in Pakistan's political and public life. The first student at Islamia College in Peshawar, Sahibzada Khurshid , who later graduated from the Royal Military College , Sandhurst , became the first governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

In the last will of the Pakistani state founder Muhammad Ali Jinnahs (1876-1948), the Aligarh University (in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh ), the Islamia College Peshawar and the Sindh Madrassa Karachi ( Sindh , Pakistan ) were given equal shares.
