NASCAR career

Busch in Concord , 2008

At the age of 16, Busch started in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for Roush Racing as a substitute driver, after the team's two drivers were replaced in the middle of the 2001 season. In the six races that he started this season, Busch achieved two top 10 results.

Busch was the fastest driver in training for the 2001 Craftsman Truck Series race at California Speedway in Fontana when he was kicked off the track by CART officials for the American Racing Wheels 200 being part of a CART FedEx Championship Series race weekend, which was sponsored by the Marlboro cigarette brand . Marlboro expelled Busch from the garage business because of the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement , according to which people under the age of 18 are not allowed to participate in events sponsored by tobacco companies.

Six weeks after this incident, NASCAR decided that drivers should be at least 18 years of age in order to prevent further incidents of this type after a tobacco manufacturer, Winston, also sponsored the top racing series. This regulation was changed again from 2007, so that drivers aged 16 and over can now participate in the Grand National and Whelen Modified Series.

After the regulation came into force, Busch moved from NASCAR to the American Speed Association , a racing series in the American Midwest. He finished the 2002 season eighth in the championship.

In 2004, Busch drove a race for Morgan-Dollar Motorsports in the number 47 Acxiom Chevrolet Silverado.

In the 2005 season, Busch returned to the Craftsman Truck Series for a few races, driving the Chevrolet for Billy Ballew Motorsports , with which he won the races at Lowe's Motor Speedway , Dover International Speedway and the autumn race at Atlanta Motor Speedway . All three races went over a distance of 200 miles. Busch became the youngest racing driver to win a Truck Series race at the age of 20 years and 19 days.

Busch repeated his victory at Lowe's Motor Speedway in the 2006 season in a special paint job that Rowdy Burns drove in Days of Thunder as a tribute to Bobby Hamilton , the stunt driver while the film was being made.

The first race of the 2008 season he won Busch finished in second, the next two races each. After finishing eighth in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 , he finished second in Texas at Sam's Town 400 , the ninth race of the season . In Michigan he finished seventh, losing one place compared to the start. Busch's third win of the season was at the O'Reilly 200 in Bristol .

Further victories followed at the Carquest Auto Parts 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in 2005 and at the Sharpie Mini 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2006.

2006

In the 2006 season, Busch landed a convincing win at the Lenox Industrial Tools 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway . He had another convincing appearance in the last race before the Chase for the Nextel Cup at Richmond International Raceway , which he finished second after having completed most of the laps of the race. He then went into the chase in fourth on points.

In the first race at the Chase, the second race of the season at New Hampshire International Speedway, Busch started in midfield and was involved in an incident on lap four in which he collided with Jeff Green in the number 66 car, causing the suspension of the car was damaged and after a spin it irreparably damaged the car. In the following race at Dover International Speedway, Busch started better than in New Hampshire, but was pulled out of the race due to an engine failure. The race at Kansas Speedway was also not without incident when he was too fast in the pit lane and finished the race in the top 10 in the second half.

At the 2007 Daytona 500 , Busch was involved in a mass crash fighting for third place in the last corner, while the two leaders Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin battled side by side for victory. Busch drove towards Martin and could have given him the necessary boost for victory, but instead he came into contact with Matt Kenseth, who was driving next to him, and the two collided, whereupon some drivers behind them like Clint Bowyer could no longer evade . As a result, Harvick won the race ahead of Martin, while Jeff Burton finished third.

2009

2015

Kyle Busch in 2015 at Sonoma Raceway

The season started with a setback for Busch. In the Xfinity race in Daytona, Busch broke his right leg and left metatarsus, which meant that he missed the first 11 races of the season and thus actually had no right to a chase ticket. NASCAR agreed to make an exception if Busch min. a place in the top 30 in the drivers' standings and a victory. With his first win of the season in Sonoma, Busch achieved a goal. With a further 3 wins in 4 races, Busch consolidated his position within the top 30 and secured his chase ticket with 4 wins. At the Championship Final in Homestead only Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon had the chance to win the title, which Kyle Busch secured with another victory.

In 2018, Busch was victorious in eight races, more than before, in the season finale at Homestead he was fourth, but unfortunately the other title favorites Logano, Truex and Kevin Harvick all crossed the finish line before him.
