Winston - cigarettes were by the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company produced. RJ Reynolds was founded in the USA at the end of the 19th century and developed into a leading competitor in the global cigarette market with well-known brands such as Camel .

In 1999 Japan Tobacco took over the RJ Reynolds International (RJRI) division in order to be represented in the global market. The company that emerged from this is called JT International .

The Winston brand was introduced in 1954 and was the best-selling cigarette in the USA from 1966 to 1972, which is reflected in the success of the marketing slogan " Winston tastes good like a cigarette should " (German: "Winston tastes as good as a cigarette should taste") ) should be justified.

Even today, Winston is still among the top 10 brands in the United States. In November 2019 the following variants were available in Germany: Winston Red, Winston Blue, Winston Black, Winston Green and Winston White Green.
