John Felix Anthony Cena (born April 23, 1977 in West Newbury , Massachusetts ) is an American wrestler , rap musician and actor . He appears in the shows of World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ), held a world heavyweight title sixteen times and is a record holder with Ric Flair .

Private life

John Cena was born the second oldest of five children. Cena's parents are John Cena Sr. and Carol. He has English and French-Canadian ancestry. Cena was married to Liz Huberdeau from 2009 to 2012. Then he was in a relationship with Nicole Garcia-Colace for a long time, who was also under contract with WWE under her ring name Nikki Bella as part of The Bella Twins . On April 2, 2017, the couple got engaged at WrestleMania 33 . Cena held a promo especially for Colace after a mixed tag team match he won with Nikki Bella against The Miz and Maryse , in which he proposed marriage to her. Wrestling career

Beginnings

His active wrestling career began in January 2000 as The Prototype at Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW) in California . He derived his ring name from "Prototype of the Perfect Man" , an allusion to his physique. He received his first title less than six months after his UPW debut. On April 27, 2000 he won the UPW Heavyweight Title , which he was allowed to hold until the end of May.

Ohio Valley Wrestling (2001-2002)

In 2001 he signed a development contract with WWE and first came to the Ohio Valley Wrestling development league . There he also appeared as The Prototype and formed a tag team with Rico Constantino in the middle of the year . On August 15, 2001 they let them win a tournament for the vacant OVW Southern Tag Team Titles , which they had to give back to the Minnesota Stretching Crew ( Shelton Benjamin and Brock Lesnar ) at the end of October .

At WrestleMania XXI , Cena met then WWE Champion John Bradshaw Layfield and received the title from him on April 3, 2005. This was followed by a relatively long reign as WWE Champion , during which he received a title belt specially made for him. This was the so-called Spinner Belt , which was adapted to his rapper style and contained a rotating logo of the WWE studded with rhinestones.

On May 10, 2005, Cena's rap album You Can't See Me was released , which reached number 15 in the US charts. Acting career
