David Michael Bautista Jr. (born January 18, 1969 in Arlington , Virginia ) is an American film actor and former wrestler . He was mainly known under the ring name Batista at the wrestling market leader WWE . Since 2014 he has mainly appeared as an actor. Bautista received the league's highest title six times and is a member of the Hall of Fame .

Early years

Bautista is of Filipino descent on her father's side and Greek on her mother's side . His grandfather worked as a taxi driver and supported the family through several part-time jobs. Bautista himself says that he is not ashamed of his poor origins. His childhood was marked by terrible events: among other things, three murders occurred in the front yard of his parents' house. At the age of 13, Bautista began stealing cars. He later became a bouncer . It was especially during this time that Bautista developed a passion for bodybuilding , until he was sentenced to one year suspended prison sentence after a bloody argument. In addition, Bautista also worked as a lifeguard .

Dave Bautista began his wrestling career on October 30, 2002, after being trained by Arthur Anoa'i , at Ohio Valley Wrestling under the name Leviathan.

In 2002 he joined the WWE as "Deacon Batista" as a ring companion to D-Von Dudley , who was then the Reverend D-Von. From 2003 he made his breakthrough in the “Evolution” stable when he won the World Tag Team titles twice with Ric Flair .

Face-Turn and World Heavyweight Champion (2005-2008)

In January 2005, he made the big step up by winning the Royal Rumble to secure a title fight for the World Heavyweight Championship. At the major WWE event Wrestlemania 21 he was allowed to prevail on April 3, 2005 against Triple H and win the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time .

Two days later, as part of the line-up change in 2005, Bautista became SmackDown! sent and started a feud program there with former WWE Champion John "Bradshaw" Layfield .

On December 16, 2005, Bautista also received the WWE Tag Team Championship with Rey Mysterio against MNM at SmackDown.

On December 30th of that year he had to give up the WWE Tag Team title in a rematch against MNM. After being in a SmackDown! Houseshow against Mark Henry had torn his triceps muscles, he even had to take an injury break. At Wrestlemania 23 , Bautista had to surrender his World Heavyweight title to the Undertaker , but was still present in the title event. After The Great Khali subsequently became the title holder, Bautista received the World Heavyweight Champion title again at the Unforgiven event on September 16, 2007 . He finally had to give it back to Edge at WWE Armageddon on December 16, 2007 .

In early 2008, Bautista denied feuds against MVP and Umaga . From April he found himself in a feud with Shawn Michaels , which ended with a victory for Bautista at the WWE One Night Stand event .

On June 23, 2008, Bautista was again switched to the Monday program RAW and involved in the events for the World Heavyweight title . On August 4, 2008, he and John Cena received the WWE World Tag Team Champion title against Ted DiBiase, Jr. & Cody Rhodes . On September 14, 2009, Bautista said goodbye to RAW, stating that he would be returning to SmackDown because SmackDown was running out of audience favorites. He then feuded with Rey Mysterio. At the PPV Elimination Chamber 2010 he was allowed to receive the WWE Champion title, directly after it was won by John Cena. At the major event WrestleMania XXVI on March 28, 2010 he had to give up the title in a rematch to Cena. He played his last match at the major WWE Over the Limit event in an "I quit" match against John Cena for the WWE Championship. In the following issue of RAW on May 24, 2010, Bautista announced that he would be leaving WWE.

On June 16, 2010, Bautista visited Strikeforce: Los Angeles ( mixed martial arts event). On June 21, 2010, he announced to tmz.com that he wanted to start an MMA career. In his first fight, Bautista was able to defeat Vince Lucero in the first round by technical knockout on October 6, 2012 .

Return to WWE (2014, 2018-2020)

At the RAW edition on January 20, 2014, Bautista was again included as an active wrestler in the WWE roster . Six days later he returned to the ring at the Royal Rumble Match and won it for the second time. Bautista was then allowed to compete against Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania XXX, but not win it. From May he took another break from wrestling, which continues to this day.

Resignation and admission to the Hall of Fame (2018-2020)

Private life
