Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace (born November 21, 1983 in San Diego , California ), better known as Nikki Bella , is an American model , actress and wrestler . Together with her sister Brie Bella , she appears in a tag team as The Bella Twins . But she is also a successful individual wrestler. She won the WWE Divas Championship twice . Her second reign was the longest in the title's history.
Private life
Nikki Bella was born 16 minutes before her twin sister Brianna (Brie). They grew up on a farm in Scottsdale , Arizona with their parents, Jon Garcia and Kathy Colace . They spent their school days together until the third grade, after which their mother had the two separated. They both graduated from Chapparal High School in 2002. Both played football for Scottsdale. They began studying at Grossmont College after graduation . Nikki played soccer for her college team. However, both dropped out of their studies and initially worked as a waitress at the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles while they were looking for a manager. She has been engaged to Artem Chigvintsev, her dancing-with-the-stars dance partner, since November 2019. Their son Matteo Artemovich Chigvintsev was born on July 31, 2020.
Wrestling career
World Wrestling Entertainment (2007-2012)
After an unsuccessful attempt at the WWE Diva Search , both received a contract with Florida Championship Wrestling in 2007 , which was then intended as a talent factory for the market leader World Wrestling Entertainment. Both were trained by Tom Prichard and later by Natalya Neidhart .
In 2008 they finally made the leap to market leader. You came to WWE Smackdown . First her twin sister Brie Bella was introduced and Nikki only ever appeared when Brie escaped under the ring. So the two changed roles and Nikki was allowed to win the fight for her sister. The two later formed a successful tag team named The Bella Twins . In 2009 there was a storyline break between the two. Nikki was able to beat her sister in the first match against each other.
In 2009, both were drafted to WWE Raw and a little later to ECW and back, where they continued to compete as a tag team. Brie Bella was then the first of the two sisters to win the WWE Diva Championship. On April 23, 2012, Nikki was allowed to win an individual title for the first time on a raw show, she defeated Beth Phoenix in a so-called Lumberjill match , but lost the title six days later against Layla in the Pay-Per-View Extreme Rules . Between 2012 and 2013, the two appeared on a few independent shows after briefly leaving WWE.
Return to WWE (2013-2019)
They returned to the WWE as a tag team in 2013. In June 2013, Nikki broke his tibia . Then the two stars of the reality TV series Total Divas .
At the Survivor Series 2014, Nikki Bella won the WWE Diva Championship for the second time, this time from AJ Lee , the two's longstanding competitor. She was allowed to hold the title for 301 days, which made her the longest title holder in the history of the title that is discontinued today.
Shortly thereafter, Nikki Bella injured her neck and was out of the ring for ten months. She had to have an operation, but made an appearance on December 21, 2015 at the Slammy Awards , where she was awarded a “Diva of the Year” award.
In 2016, she had a little cameo after her sister won a match at WrestleMania 32 . She slowly recovered from her real injury and stepped back into the ring at SummerSlam 2016 . She mainly competed as a single wrestler, but without being allowed to win a title. At WrestleMania 33 , she competed against Maryse and The Miz with her boyfriend John Cena . After the match, John Cena made her a marriage proposal in front of the cameras, which she accepted. However, on April 15, 2018, she announced the split from Cena. On April 4, 2017, she announced her retirement from wrestling on her Instagram account.
Nikki competed in the women's Royal Rumble Match. She was in the last four. On September 3, the Bella Twins competed in a tag team match for the first time in three years, defeating the Riott Squad.
