Scottsdale is a city in Maricopa County in the US state of Arizona , United States , with nearly 250,000 residents (2016 estimate, US Census Bureau ). The metropolitan area has a size of 477.7 km², it is located on Arizona State Routes 101 and 202 and borders the capital Phoenix . Scottsdale is one of the wealthier suburbs of Phoenix and one of the most exclusive cities in the United States. In 1993 the mayors of the US cities voted Scottsdale the "most livable city in the US". In the tabloid media, the city's name made headlines as a celebrity vacation spot.

The attraction is the amusement park Rawhide , which is built in the style of the old cowboy and western times and in which shootings by stuntmen are staged several times a day . The western town is no longer in Scottsdale itself; It was rebuilt on the Ak-Chin Indian Community area near the small town of Maricopa.
Wrestler Eddie Guerrero , who died early, is buried in Scottsdale's High Green Acres Cemetery .

The wrestling club Sunkist Kids is one of the best known and most successful in the United States.
George Mikan (1924–2005), "Mr. Basketball", died in a hospital , as did Creedence Clearwater Revival guitarist Tom Fogerty (1941–1990), the Warrior (1959–2014) and world boxing champion Muhammad Ali (1942–2016) in Scottsdale.
