Brady Tkachuk (born September 16, 1999 in Scottsdale , Arizona ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League since August 2018 . He was selected in fourth position by the Senators in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft .
Career
Brady Tkachuk was born in Scottsdale when his father was under contract with the Phoenix Coyotes and grew up in St. Louis when Keith Tkachuk switched to the blues there during the 2000/01 season. In his youth he played for junior teams in St. Louis before moving to the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) for the 2014/15 season. With the NTDP, which acts as the central talent factory of the US American Association USA Hockey , he took part in the game operations of the United States Hockey League (USHL), the highest junior league in the country. At the same time, the NTDP teams represent the USA on an international level, so that he took part in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2015 and won the gold medal at the U18 World Championship in 2017 . After two years, the winger retired from the junior program due to age and enrolled at Boston University in autumn 2017 . During his freshman season he took part in the U20 World Cup 2018 with the U20 national team and won the bronze medal there with Team USA . In addition, he celebrated the championship of Hockey East with the Terriers of Boston University , while he was personally elected to the all-rookie team after 31 scorer points in 40 games.
Tkachuk was considered to be one of the most promising talents for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft 2018 , so the Central Scouting Services of the National Hockey League (NHL) listed him behind Andrei Svetschnikow in second place among the North American outfield players. At the same time, his style of play - like that of his brother Matthew Tkachuk - is considered to be a power forward and a plague . In the actual draft, the Ottawa Senators voted him fourth and gave him an entry-level contract in August 2018 . As part of the preparation for the 2018/19 season, Tkachuk earned a place in the Senators' squad and made his debut in the NHL at the beginning of October 2018. He then recorded 45 points in 71 games in his first NHL season, placing him in second place on the rookie scorer list and at the end of the season in the NHL All-Rookie Team .
