Mark Borowiecki (born July 12, 1989 in Kanata , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League since March 2011 .
Career
Borowiecki was initially active from 2006 to 2008 for the Smiths Falls Bears from the Central Junior Hockey League , before he began studying at Clarkson University and went on ice for their ice hockey team, the Clarkson Knights , in the ECAC Hockey . The defender had previously been selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft in a total of 139th position . In his last season with the university team, the 2010/11 season, the left shooter ran on the ice as their team captain. In March 2011, the Canadians signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators and made his debut in the same season for the AHL - farm team , the Binghamton Senators , on a professional level. In addition to nine games in the regular season, Borowiecki completed 21 games in the AHL playoffs of the 2010/11 season and won the Calder Cup with Binghamton .
In the following season , the left-shooter took part in the AHL All-Star Classic and ran for the first time for the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League on January 19, 2012 , the rookie in the away game against the San Jose Sharks a defender pair with the experienced Chris Phillips educated.
