Pierre Dorion

Pierre Dorion (born July 6, 1972 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey official . Since April 2016 he has been the General Manager of the Ottawa Senators from the National Hockey League (NHL).

Career

Pierre Dorion entered the NHL business at the age of 22 when the Canadiens de Montréal hired him as a scout for the 1994/95 season . He held this position for eleven seasons before moving to the New York Rangers in 2005 in the same role . After two years in New York, the Ottawa Senators from his hometown hired him as Director of Amateur Scouting before he was promoted to Director of Player Personnel in 2009 . Dorion held this position until January 2014, when he was appointed assistant to General Manager Bryan Murray .

In April 2016, Murray announced that he would be resigning from his position with immediate effect due to his advanced cancer and handing it over to Dorion, who thus became the eighth general manager in franchise history .

Dorion is the father of two daughters. His father also worked as an NHL scout, including for the Toronto Maple Leafs .
