Pierre Gauthier

Pierre Gauthier (born May 28, 1953 in Montréal , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey official in the National Hockey League .

Career

Gauthier began his career in the National Hockey League with the Québec Nordiques , for which he worked in various positions between 1981 and 1993 in the field of scouting. He then joined the newly formed franchise of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , for which he worked as an assistant general manager until 1995 before joining the Ottawa Senators , where he was appointed general manager. With the Canadians, he signed a five-year contract. Parallel to his tenure in Ottawa, Gauthier looked after the Canadian national ice hockey team as general manager at the World Championships in 1997 and 1998 , and together with Bob Clarke and Bob Gainey at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano .

Gauthier terminated his contract in Ottawa prematurely after three years after a form weakness of the team in 1998 and returned to his ex-club in Anaheim, where he was president and general manager until 2002.

On July 21, 2003, Pierre Gauthier moved to the Montréal Canadiens as head of the scouting department. On July 24, 2006, he was appointed Assistant General Manager and continued to head the scouting department. Between February 2010 and March 2012 he was General Manager of the Canadiens.
