Randy Sexton (born July 24, 1959 in Brockville , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , coach and current official. From May 2009 to May 2010 he was General Manager of the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League .

Career

Randy Sexton began his career as a hockey player with the Cornwall Royals , for which he was active in the 1977/78 season in the Canadian junior league QMJHL . The attacker then played for four years for the St. Lawrence University team , for which he worked as an assistant coach from 1983 to 1985 after his early retirement. At the same time, he worked as a scout for the university team .

Subsequently, Sexton, who had in the meantime graduated from Clarkson University , worked as a manager. In the summer of 1993, the Canadian was appointed general manager of the newly formed Ottawa Senators from the National Hockey League , for which he worked in this position until December 1995. Subsequently, he worked for Capital Sports Management , a consulting firm for the Ottawa Senators.

From 2007 to 2009, Sexton was employed by the Florida Panthers as Assistant General Manager under Jacques Martin . After Martin's dismissal at the end of the 2008/09 season , he was promoted to General Manager on October 2, 2009.

His sons Ben Sexton (* 1991) and Patrick Sexton (* 1994) are also ice hockey players.
