Chuck Fletcher

Chuck Fletcher (born April 29, 1967 in Montréal , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey official . Since December 2018 he has been General Manager of the Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League (NHL), having previously worked in the same role for the Florida Panthers and the Minnesota Wild .

Career

Cliff Fletcher graduated from Harvard University in 1990 and then worked in management for Hockey Canada and Newport Sports Management , an agency for ice hockey players. In 1993 he moved to the organization of the Florida Panthers from the NHL, where he was active until 2002. During this time he mainly acted as assistant to the general manager, at times as general manager of the Louisville Panthers from the American Hockey League , the Florida farm team , and interim as general manager of the Florida Panthers. Fletcher then worked for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim from 2002 to 2006 , also as Assistant to the General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations . In 2006 he was hired in the same position by the Pittsburgh Penguins , where he also looked after the farm team as General Manager, the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins .

In May 2009 he was introduced to Minnesota Wild as the new General Manager, where he succeeded Doug Risebrough . Under his leadership, the team reached the playoffs six times in a row from 2013 to 2018, but regularly failed there early, most recently three times in the first round, so that his contract was not extended after the 2017/18 season.

In December 2018, the Canadian was hired again as general manager in the NHL when he succeeded Ron Hextall at the Philadelphia Flyers .

Fletcher is married and has two children. His father Cliff Fletcher was also an official in the NHL, in particular as general manager of the Atlanta / Calgary Flames and the Toronto Maple Leafs , and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004 .
