Kevin Patrick Hayes (born May 8, 1992 in Dorchester , Massachusetts ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League since June 2019 . Previously, the right winger , who is also used in the center position, played for about four and a half years for the New York Rangers , who had selected him in the first round in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft . Hayes also played for the USA national team at the 2014 and 2017 World Championships .

Career

Hayes moved after completion of high school and the election in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League to the Boston College , where he worked for the local hockey team in the Hockey East , one of the Division National Collegiate Athletic Association played. In the first season he spent there with his brother Jimmy , he won the division championship. The team repeated this success the following year and also secured the national championship of the NCAA. After a transition year, he was able to achieve the point yield from his first three years in his last college season, which earned him a nomination for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award , but his teammate Johnny Gaudreau won.

On August 15, 2014, the Chicago Blackhawks' contractual rights , which they had acquired through the NHL Entry Draft to Hayes, expired . As a free agent , he then joined the New York Rangers on August 20, 2014 . There he established himself straight away and played 79 of 82 regular season games in the 2014/15 season. He scored 45 points and confirmed this value in the following three seasons. In February 2019 the Americans in exchange for was Brendan Lemieux and a conditional first-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2019 or 2020 and a conditional fourth-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2022 , the Jets unless the Stanley Cup in 2019 win at the Winnipeg Jets handed in. The latter did not come true. A few weeks before the official start of the 2019/20 season, the Philadelphia Flyers acquired their transfer rights for a five-round vote in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and agreed in mid-June 2019 on a seven-year contractual relationship with a total volume of 50 million US dollars.

International

Hayes represented his home country for the first time at the 2014 World Cup in the Belarusian capital Minsk . At the 2017 World Cup , he was also part of Team USA .

His older brother is Jimmy and his cousins Tom Fitzgerald and Keith Tkachuk were also professional ice hockey players.
