Brian Elliott (born April 9, 1985 in Newmarket , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with the Philadelphia Flyers in the National Hockey League since July 2017 .
Career
Brian Elliott began his career as a hockey player in the team of the University of Wisconsin – Madison , for which he was active from 2003 to 2007 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Previously, he had already been selected as a player of the second-rate junior team Ajax Axemen from the Ontario Junior Hockey League in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the ninth round as a total of 291st player by the Ottawa Senators .
For their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Binghamton Senators , the goalkeeper made his professional ice hockey debut in the 2006/07 season when he was between the posts eight times. In the following season Elliott was once in the National Hockey League for Ottawa on the ice, but spent the rest of the season again with their farm team, while he was able to increase to 31 missions in the 2008/09 season , in which he was his team Helped to win 16 times.
On February 18, 2011, Elliott was transferred from the Senators to the Colorado Avalanche . Ottawa received goalkeeper Craig Anderson in return . His contract, which expired at the end of the 2010/11 season , was not renewed.
As a free agent , Elliott signed a contract with the St. Louis Blues on July 1, 2011 , where he set two franchise records in the 2011/12 season (9 shutouts in one season and 241: 33 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal) and for the NHL All -Star Game was invited. He also won the William M. Jennings Trophy together with Jaroslav Halák (goalkeeper duo with the fewest goals conceded in the regular season).
In June 2016, after almost five years in St. Louis, Elliott was handed over to the Calgary Flames , who in return sent a second-round vote for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and a third-round vote for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft to St. Louis. After only one year in Calgary, his expiring contract was not renewed by the Flames, so he joined the Philadelphia Flyers as a free agent in July 2017 . There he signed a two-year contract with an annual salary of $ 2.75 million.
