Philippe Myers (born January 25, 1997 in Moncton , New Brunswick ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League since September 2015 and has been working for their farm team , the Lehigh Valley Phantoms , in of the American Hockey League plays on the position of defender .
Career
Myers spent his junior years between 2013 and 2017 with the Huskies de Rouyn-Noranda in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . The defender, who was not included in the NHL Entry Draft , was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League during this time in September 2015 . Nevertheless, he stayed in the LHJMQ for two more years and won the Coupe du Président , the league's championship trophy, with the Huskies at the end of the 2015/16 season . He was also elected to the First All-Star Team of the LHJMQ. In the subsequent Memorial Cup , the team reached the final. By the end of the 2016/17 season , Myers had completed 251 games for Rouyn-Noranda and had 122 points scorer .
For the 2017/18 game year , Myers finally switched to the professional field and was used by the Philadelphia Flyers in their farm team , the Lehigh Valley Phantoms , in the American Hockey League . After spending the entire season there and the first two thirds of the 2018/19 season, he was appointed to the Philadelphia's NHL squad for the first time in February 2019, where he played a total of 21 games by the end of the season in April.
International
For his home country, Myers played in the junior division with the provincial team Canada Atlantic at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in January 2014 and for the Canadian U20 national team at the U20 World Junior Championship in 2017 . There he was able to contribute three assists in four tournament appearances to win the silver medal.
The defender made his senior national team debut at the 2019 World Cup in Slovakia when he was re-nominated during the tournament. Ultimately, he played seven of the ten tournament games and won the silver medal with the Canadians at the end of the tournament.
