Nathan "Nate" Thompson (born October 5, 1984 in Anchorage , Alaska ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Philadelphia Flyers in the National Hockey League since February 2020 .
Career
Nate Thompson began his career as a hockey player with the Seattle Thunderbirds , for which he was active in the Western Hockey League from 2001 to 2005 . During this time he was selected in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round as a total of 183 players by the Boston Bruins . Towards the end of the 2004/05 season , Thompson first played for the Boston farm team from the American Hockey League , the Providence Bruins , when he scored an assist in eleven playoff games. In his four years in the Boston Bruins franchise , the attacker played almost exclusively for their farm team, with the exception of the 2006/07 season when he played four games for Boston in the National Hockey League , in which the American was pointless and goalless stayed.
In the summer of 2008 Thompson was signed by the New York Islanders , for which he scored four scorer points, including two goals, in 47 games in the following season. The attacker finally came to the Ottawa Senators in July 2017 via the Tampa Bay Lightning and Anaheim Ducks . The Senators handed it over to the Los Angeles Kings along with Dion Phaneuf in February 2018 and received Marián Gáborík and Nick Shore in return . The American spent a year in LA before he was transferred to the Canadiens de Montréal in February 2019, including a five-round vote for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft , while the Kings received a four-round vote in the same draft. A year later, for the trade deadline in February 2020, the Canadiens sent him to the Philadelphia Flyers and received a five-round vote for the 2021 NHL Entry Draft .
International
At the 2013 World Cup in Stockholm and Helsinki , Nate Thompson was a member of the US national team and won the bronze medal with it.
