Julien BriseBois

Julien BriseBois (born January 24, 1977 ) is a Canadian ice hockey official . Since September 2018 he has been the General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning from the National Hockey League (NHL).

Career

Julien BriseBois grew up in Greenfield Park , a suburb of Montréal . As an undergraduate he attended the law faculty of the University of Montreal and then earned a Master of Business Administration from Concordia University . He then worked for Heenan Blaikie , a law firm from Montréal, in the field of sports law , serving as legal advisor in contract negotiations and as an independent arbitrator in arbitration proceedings for the National Hockey League (NHL) and Major League Baseball .

In 2001 BriseBois moved to the legal department of the Canadiens de Montréal from the NHL, where he was appointed Director of Hockey Operations for the 2003/04 season and thus moved to management. He spent nine years in total for the Canadiens, also serving as Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of Montreal's farm team , the Hamilton Bulldogs .

In 2010, the Canadian moved within the NHL to the Tampa Bay Lightning , who hired him as an assistant to General Manager Steve Yzerman . At the same time he took over again the duties of the general manager of the farm team of the Lightning, the Norfolk Admirals and later the Syracuse Crunch . BriseBois held both positions for eight years, during which he won the Calder Cup playoffs of the American Hockey League with the Admirals in 2012 . Finally, in September 2018, Yzerman surprisingly stepped down from his functions as General Manager and transferred the office to BriseBois.
