Career
Kevyn Adams began his career in the ice hockey team at Miami University , for which he played from 1992 to 1996 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association , a league in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . During this time he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft 1993 by the Boston Bruins in the first round as a total of 25th player, for which he however never appeared. After a season with the Grand Rapids Griffins from the International Hockey League , for which he made his debut in professional ice hockey, Adams signed in 1997 as a free agent in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs , for which he drafted until the expansion played in 2000 when he was selected by the newly formed Columbus Blue Jackets .
On March 13, 2001 Adams was given together with a four-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2001 in exchange for Ray Whitney to the Florida Panthers . His next change came when he was transferred to the Carolina Hurricanes on January 16, 2002 together with Bret Hedican and Tomáš Malec in exchange for Sandis Ozoliņš and Byron Ritchie . The center played for Carolina until 2007, bridging the lockout period in the 2004/05 NHL season in the German Ice Hockey League with the DEG Metro Stars . After his return to the Hurricanes, he and his team won the prestigious Stanley Cup in 2006 .
At the beginning of 2007, Adams was first given to the Phoenix Coyotes , who in August of the same year passed him on to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Radim Vrbata . Due to a knee injury, Adams finally missed much of the 2007-08 season and was released on October 7, 2008 by his team, the Blackhawks.
From 2011 to 2013, Adams worked as an assistant coach with the Buffalo Sabers . For the 2019/20 season he returned to the organization as Senior Vice President of Business Administration before replacing the previous General Manager Jason Botterill in June 2020 .
