The Miami University is a state university in Oxford , Ohio in the southwest of the US state of Ohio, about 50 km northwest of Cincinnati area. Founded in 1809, it is the oldest university west of the Allegheny Mountains and the seventh oldest state university in the United States . It is one of the best state universities, a so-called Public Ivy . 23,100 students are currently enrolled.

Locations

The university is spread over four locations. In addition to the main campus in Oxford, there is a campus in Hamilton , one in Middletown , and the John E. Dolibois European campus in Differdange ( Luxembourg ).

Sports
