Steven L. "Steve" Driehaus (born June 24, 1966 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 2009 to 2011 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the first  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Steve Driehaus was born in Cincinnati. After attending high school , he studied at Miami University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1988. He received his Master of Public Administration after completing another degree at Indiana University in 1995. Between the two studies he was active with the Peace Corps in Senegal . After completing his studies at Indiana University, he worked there as deputy director of the department for international education. He then worked as an assistant to Charlie Luken , the mayor of Cincinnati. In 2001 he was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives , where he was Minority Whip from 2005 to 2008 .

Since 2009, Driehaus has served as the Representative for Ohio's 1st Congressional District in the US House of Representatives. He won the seat of Republican Steve Chabot in the 2008 elections . Chabot was able to win back the seat in the 2010 elections . At the House, Driehaus was most recently a member of the Committee on Financial Services and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform .

Driehaus is Roman Catholic and lives in Cincinnati with his wife and 3 children.
