William C. Mooney

William Crittenden Mooney (born June 15, 1855 in Beallsville , Monroe County , Ohio , †  July 24, 1918 in New York City ) was an American politician . Between 1915 and 1917 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Mooney attended the public schools of his home country and then the Ohio Wesleyan College in Delaware . He then worked as an accountant for two years. From 1894 he worked in the banking industry. At the Monroe Bank of Woodsfield , he worked his way up to the position of bank president. Mooney has also served as a director of various craft, insurance and oil companies. He was also on the board of a local railroad company. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . whose state board in Ohio he was a member. He also became President and Treasurer of the Monroe County Agricultural Society .

In the 1914 congressional election , Mooney was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 15th  constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded George White on March 4, 1915 . Since he was not confirmed in 1916, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1917 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, William Mooney returned to banking. He died on July 24, 1918 in New York, where he had gone for health reasons, and was buried in Woodsfield .
