Earley F. Poppleton

Earley Franklin Poppleton (born September 29, 1834 in Bellville , Ohio , †  May 6, 1899 in Delaware , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1875 and 1877 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Earley Poppleton received a classical school education. He then studied at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware. After studying law and becoming a lawyer, he began working in this profession in Elyria . In 1861 he moved his residence and law firm to the city of Delaware. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In 1870 he was a member of the Ohio Senate .

In the congressional election of 1874 , Poppleton was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the ninth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Republican James Wallace Robinson on March 4, 1875 . Since he was not confirmed in 1876, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1877 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Poppleton practiced as a lawyer again. He died on May 6, 1899 in Delaware, where he was also buried.
