Luther Martin Strong (born June 23, 1838 in Tiffin , Ohio , †  April 26, 1903 in Kenton , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1893 and 1897 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Luther Strong attended the public schools in his homeland and then the Aaron Schuyler's Academy in the Congregation of Republic . During the Civil War , he served in an Ohio infantry unit that was part of the Union Army from 1861 to 1865 . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1867, he began to work in Kenton in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He became a member of the Kenton Education Committee and was a member of the Ohio Senate from 1879 to 1881 . In 1883 he became an appellate judge. In this capacity he had to temporarily fill a vacancy.

In the congressional election of 1892 Strong Party in the eighth constituency of Ohio in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Darius D. Hare on March 4, 1893 . After a re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1897 . In 1896 he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party. After serving in the US House of Representatives, Luther Strong worked in agriculture. He died on April 26, 1903 in Kenton, where he was also buried.
