Herman P. Goebel

Herman Philip Goebel (born April 5, 1853 in Cincinnati , Ohio , † May 4, 1930 ibid) was an American politician of the Republican Party . March 4, 1903 to March 3, 1911, he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the second  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Goebel was born in Cincinnati and grew up there. He made his first professional experience as an errand boy at a law firm. He decided to study law as well. In 1872 he graduated from the University of Cincinnati . In 1874 he was admitted as a lawyer in order to work in his own law firm. He gained his first political experience in the Ohio House of Representatives in 1875 and 1876 . He served as a judge for Hamilton County between 1884 and 1890.

In 1902 Goebel was elected to the US House of Representatives to succeed Jacob H. Bromwell . He was able to defend his seat in the following three elections. In 1910 he was not re-elected. He then worked as a lawyer again until his death.

Goebel died on May 4, 1930 in his hometown. He was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery .
