Deborah D. Pryce (born July 29, 1951 in Warren , Ohio ) is an American politician . From 1993 to 2009 she represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Deborah Pryce attended Champion High School in her hometown of Warren until 1969 and then studied at Ohio State University in Columbus until 1973 . After completing a law degree at Capital University in Columbus and being admitted to the bar in 1976, she began working in this profession. From 1976 to 1978 she served as a judge in the administration of the Insurance Department of the Ohio State Government; from 1975 to 1985 she served as the state attorney for the city of Columbus. Between 1986 and 1992 she was a judge at the Municipal Court in Franklin County . Politically, she joined the Republican Party .

In the 1992 congressional election , Pryce was elected to the 15th  constituency of Ohio in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where she succeeded Chalmers Wylie on January 3, 1993 . After seven re-elections, she was able to complete eight legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 2009 . The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , the Iraq war and the military operation in Afghanistan took place during this period . From 2003 to 2007 she was Chair of the House Republican Conference . At times she was a member of the Financial Services Committee and the Committee on Rules . In 2008 she decided not to run again.

Deborah Pryce is divorced and now lives in Upper Arlington with her daughter .
