Isaac M. Jordan (born May 5, 1835 in Mifflinburg , Pennsylvania , † December 3, 1890 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Isaac M. Jordan moved to Springfield , Ohio with his parents in 1837 . There he attended the Northwood Institute between 1853 and 1854 . He then graduated from Miami University at Oxford in 1857 , where he was one of the co-founders of the Sigma Chi student movement on June 28, 1855 . Jordan studied law . He was admitted to the bar a year later and then began practicing in Dayton . In 1859 he moved to Cincinnati, where he continued his practice as a lawyer.

Jordan also had a political career. He was elected to the 48th US Congress for the second constituency of Ohio , where he served from March 4, 1883 to March 3, 1885. He turned down a new candidacy for the US House of Representatives in 1884 and resumed his practice as a lawyer in Cincinnati after the end of his tenure. Jordan died on December 3, 1890, of injuries sustained in an elevator accident at Lincoln Inn , Cincinnati. He was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery .
