Walter L. Weaver

Walter Lowrie Weaver (born April 1, 1851 in Montgomery County , Ohio , †  May 26, 1909 in Springfield , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1901 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Walter Weaver attended public schools in his home country and the Monroe Academy . In 1870 he graduated from Wittenberg College in Springfield. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1872, he began to work in Springfield in this profession. He was elected Clark County Attorney in 1874, 1880, 1882, and 1885 . Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1896 Weaver was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded George W. Wilson on March 4, 1897 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1901 . During this time the Spanish-American War of 1898 fell . From 1899 Weaver headed the Second Electoral Committee. ( Committee on Elections No. 2 ). In 1900 he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party.

Between 1902 and 1904 Walter Weaver was an associate judge at the Choctaw-Chickasaw Citizens' Court in McAlester in what is now Oklahoma . He then returned to Springfield, where he practiced as a lawyer again. He died there on May 26, 1909.
