Amos R. Webber

Amos Richard Webber (born January 21, 1852 in Hinckley , Medina County , Ohio , †  February 25, 1948 in Elyria , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1904 and 1907 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Amos Webber attended the public schools in his home country and then studied at Baldwin University in Berea . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1876, he began to work in this profession in Elyria. Between 1884 and 1890 he was a prosecutor in the local Lorain County . From 1900 to 1903 he worked there as an appeal judge. Politically, he joined the Republican Party .

After the death of MP William W. Skiles , Webber was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC at the by-election due for the 14th seat of Ohio , where he took up his new mandate on November 8, 1904. After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1907 . In 1906 he was not nominated again by his party.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Amos Webber practiced as a lawyer again. He also dealt with literary matters. Between 1922 and 1935 he was again an appellate judge in Lorain County. He died on February 25, 1948 in Elyria at the age of 96.
