William E. Tou Velle

William Ellsworth Tou Velle (born November 23, 1862 in Celina , Ohio , †  August 14, 1951 there ) was an American politician . Between 1907 and 1911 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Tou Velle attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1879 the Celina High School . Between 1885 and 1888 he was a postman in his native Celina. After studying law at the Cincinnati Law School and being admitted to the bar in 1889, he began to work in this profession in Celina. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional election of 1906 Tou Velle was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Harvey C. Garber on March 4, 1907 . After a re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1911 . In 1910 he renounced another candidacy. After his time in the US House of Representatives, Tou Velle practiced as a lawyer again. He also became President of the First National Bank of Celina . He died in Celina on August 14, 1951.
