Byron Foster Ritchie (born January 29, 1853 in Grafton , Ohio , †  August 22, 1928 in Toledo , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1893 and 1895 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Byron Ritchie was the son of Congressman James M. Ritchie (1829-1918). In 1860 he moved with his parents to Toledo, where he graduated from high school in 1870. After completing a law degree and being admitted to the bar in 1874, he began to work in this profession in Toledo. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional election of 1892 Ritchie was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the ninth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Joseph H. Outhwaite on March 4, 1893 . Since he was not confirmed in 1894, he could only serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1895 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Ritchie initially practiced as a lawyer in Toledo again. From 1914 until his death he was an appellate judge in Lucas County there . He died on August 22, 1928 in Toledo, where he was also buried.
