Matthias Shepler

Matthias Shepler (born November 11, 1790 in Westmoreland County , Pennsylvania , † April 7, 1863 in Navarre , Ohio ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . March 4, 1837 to March 3, 1839, he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 18th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Shepler was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He attended school there. He served in the British-American War . In 1818 he moved to Ohio, where he settled in Stark County and became involved. He was an arbitrator for 30 years or served as a commissioner . In 1829 he sat in the Ohio House of Representatives and in 1832 on the State Senate .

From 1837 to 1839 he was a member of the US House of Representatives. He did not stand up for re-election.

In 1860 he moved to Navarre, where he died in 1863. He was buried in Shepler Church Cemetery near Navarre. Shepler was married three times and had a total of 7 children.
