Capell Lane Weems (born July 7, 1860 in Whigville , Noble County , Ohio , †  January 5, 1913 in Steubenville , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1909 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Capell Weems attended his home public schools and the Normal Academy in Caldwell . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1883, he began to work there in his new profession. In 1884 he was elected Noble County District Attorney; from 1890 to 1896 he held this position in Belmont County . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives in 1888 and 1889 . From 1890 he lived in St. Clairsville .

After the resignation of MP Joseph J. Gill , Weems was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when the by-election was due for the 16th seat of Ohio , where he took up his new mandate on November 3, 1903. After two re-elections, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1909 . After serving in the US House of Representatives, Weems returned to practice as a lawyer. He also worked legally for the Pennsylvania Railroad . He died on January 5, 1913 in Steubenville and was buried in St. Clairsville.
