George A. Marshall (1899)

George Alexander Marshall (born September 14, 1851 in Sidney , Ohio , †  April 21, 1899 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1899 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

George Marshall attended the public schools of his home country and then the Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1876, he began to work in his new profession in Sydney. Between 1878 and 1886 he served as a prosecutor in Shelby County .

In the 1896 congressional election , Marshall was elected as a Democratic Party candidate in the fourth constituency of Ohio to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Fernando C. Layton on March 4, 1897 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1898, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1899 . During this time the Spanish-American War of 1898 fell .

George Marshall died in Sidney, his hometown, on April 22, 1899, just weeks after leaving the US House of Representatives.
