David Lee "Dave" Hobson (born October 17, 1936 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American politician . Between 1991 and 2009 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1954, Dave Hobson graduated from Withrow High School . He then studied until 1958 at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware . This was followed by a law degree at Ohio State University until 1963 . Between 1958 and 1963 he was also a member of the Ohio National Guard Air Corps. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . Between 1982 and 1990 he was a member of the Ohio Senate ; since 1988 he has been its president.

In the 1990 congressional election , Hobson was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Mike DeWine on January 3, 1991 . After eight re-elections, he was able to complete nine legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 2009 . The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , the Iraq war and the military operation in Afghanistan took place during this period . Hobson most recently served on the Grants Committee and two of its sub-committees. In 2006, he hit the headlines for accepting invitations to various dinners on two business trips to France, each exceeding $ 50, the legal limit for accepting gifts. On October 14, 2007, he announced that he would not run another congressional candidacy in 2008.

Today Dave Hobson is President of Vorys Advisors LLC , a subsidiary of Vorys, Sater, Seymore and Pease law firm .
