Miner Gibbs Norton (* 11. May 1857 in Andover , Ashtabula County , Ohio , † 7. September 1926 in Cleveland , Ohio) was an American politician of the Republican Party . March 4, 1921 to March 3, 1923 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 20th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Miner G. Norton was born in the northeastern part of Ohio. He goes to the public schools there. After attending National Normal University and Baldwin-Wallace College , he graduated from the University of Mount Union in law in 1878 and Yale University in 1880 . In the same year he was admitted to the bar and worked from then on in Cleveland. From 1895 to 1900 he was in the service of the City of Cleveland as Director of Law . In the late 1890s he served as chairman of the Executive Committee of the Republican Party in Ohio.

In the 1920 congressional election , Norton was elected to represent the 20th District of Ohio in the House in Washington, DC . In 1922 he no longer ran for election. His predecessor, Charles A. Mooney , also succeeded him. He then worked again as a lawyer in Cleveland. Norton died in Cleveland on September 7, 1926. He was buried in Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson .
