Reasin Beall
Reasin Beall (born December 3, 1769 in Montgomery County , Province of Maryland , † February 20, 1843 in Wooster , Ohio ) was an American politician . In 1813 and 1814 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Reasin Beall was born in Maryland and raised in Washington County , Pennsylvania . He received only a limited education. At the beginning of the 1790s he took part in some Indian campaigns as a soldier in the US Army . Around 1801 he moved to Steubenville in what would later become Ohio. In 1803 he moved to New Lisbon in Columbiana County . There he became a colonel in the state militia. He was also employed by the local district court. During the British-American War he was Brigadier General of the State Militia. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Republican Party .
In the congressional elections of 1812 , John S. Edwards was actually elected to Congress in the then newly established sixth constituency of Ohio . This died before the beginning of the legislative period on March 4, 1813. When the by-election was due, Beall was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on April 20, 1813. He exercised it until his resignation on June 7, 1814. This time was still marked by the British-American War.
Between 1814 and 1824 Reasin Beall worked for the land registry in Canton and Wooster. He later joined the Whig Party , founded in the 1830s . In February 1840 he was a delegate to their party congress and in the fall of that year he was one of the electors who officially elected William Henry Harrison as US President . He died on February 20, 1843 in Wooster, where he was also buried.
