Martin Hoke

Martin R. Hoke (born May 18, 1952 in Lakewood , Ohio ) is an American politician . Between 1993 and 1997 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Martin Hoke attended Lorain public schools , the Western Reserve Academy, and then through 1973 Amherst College . After studying law at Case Western Reserve University and being admitted to the bar in 1980, he began working in this profession in Cleveland . He was the founder and president of the Cellular Telephone Company . Politically, he joined the Republican Party .

In the 1992 congressional elections , Hoke was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Clarence E. Miller on January 3, 1993 . After a re-election, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1997 . In 1996 he was not re-elected. His defeat against the Democrat Dennis Kucinich was also seen as a result of several slip-ups he had made during his tenure. In 1994, in the run-up to a television interview, he described the “big breasts” of a production manager with an artificial Italian accent (“She's got ze beega breasts”); this had been recorded on a microphone and was later broadcast several times.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Martin Hoke practiced as a lawyer again. He is also a member of his state's casino control committee.
