Tony Hall

Tony Patrick Hall (born January 16, 1942 in Dayton , Ohio ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Hall attended Fairmont High School in Kettering , Ohio, where he graduated in 1960. He then studied at Denison University in Granville , Ohio, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1964 . From 1966 to 1967 he was a member of the Peace Corps and worked for it in Thailand .

Hall was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1969 to 1972, and then served on the state Senate from 1973 to 1978 . He then continued his political career in the US House of Representatives , to which he was elected as a Democrat. Hall represented his home state here from January 3, 1979 to September 9, 2002. From September 2002 to 2005, he headed the diplomatic mission of the United States of the United Nations , based in Rome . He was thus a representative of his state, in the rank of ambassador , to the Food and Agriculture Organization , the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Food Program . He later became the Executive Director of the Alliance to End Hunger.

In 2015 Hall received the medal of the Ordem de Timor-Leste . Hall had campaigned for East Timor, which was then occupied by Indonesia , in the US House of Representatives and, for example, in 1992 helped to discontinue military training aid for Indonesia.

Hall is married and has two children.
