Henry I. Emerson

Henry Ivory Emerson (* 15. March 1871 in Litchfield , Kennebec County , Maine ; † 28. October 1953 in East Cleveland , Ohio ) was an American politician of the Republican Party . From 1915 to 1921 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for 22  congressional districts of the State of Ohio.

biography

Henry I. Emerson was born in the small town of Litchfield in Maine. He later moved with his parents to Lewistown , where he attended school and law studies. In 1892 he moved to Cleveland , where he completed his studies in 1893. That same year, Emerson was admitted to the bar and practiced as a lawyer in Cleveland. In 1902 and 1903 he was on the Cleveland City Council.

In 1914 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a representative of the 22nd District of Ohio. He represented the 22nd district for a total of 3 legislative terms. In 1921 he left Congress and returned to practice as a lawyer. In 1953 Emerson died in East Cleveland and was buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland.
