Robert Murphy Nevin (born May 5, 1850 in Danville , Highland County , Ohio , †  December 17, 1912 in Dayton , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1901 and 1907 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert Nevin attended the public schools in Hillsboro and then studied until 1868 at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware . From 1868 he lived in Dayton. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1871, he began to work there in this profession. From 1882 until his death he was, in addition to his other activities, legal advisor to the New York Central Railroad . From 1887 to 1890 he served as the district attorney in Montgomery County . Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party . In June 1892 he attended the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis . He was also a delegate to 14 regional Republican party conventions in his home state.

In the 1900 congressional elections , Nevin was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the third constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Democrat John Lewis Brenner on March 4, 1901 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1907 . In 1906 he renounced another candidacy. After his time in the US House of Representatives, Robert Nevin practiced as a lawyer again. He died on December 17, 1912 in Dayton, where he was also buried.
